North Station

North Station is an electroacoustic music studioat the Sumy Philharmonic, whose first residencytook place in July. Over the course of a week,composers and their mentors explored the city,its history and its people. Twenty kilometersfrom the front line, life feels different: the alarmnever fades and the explosions sound louder.Yet despite everything, the city keeps on livingand inspiring with its beauty and its atmosphereof resilience. “Expedition” captures a local identityand serves as a sonic archive of the present day,shaped by the artistic vision of its composers.

The foundation of the musical works was a setof collected field recordings — from the spatialecho of a library to the primal rhythmsof an authentic potter’s wheel. Throughthe collaboration, raw electronic matterblended organically with the living breathof the academic instruments playedby soloists of the Renaissance chamberorchestra. This debut compilation albumis a sincere emotional diary that turnsthe tension of the borderland into a deeppsychoacoustic experience, allowing everylistener to take their own journey and feel the North.
